Helena Bandy

Helena Bandy, violinist, received both her BM and MM from Baylor University, studying violin performance with Dr. Bruce Berg and Dr. Eka Gogichashvili. As well as performing with the Waco Symphony Orchestra, Helena regularly performs with the Abilene Philharmonic and the Temple Symphony. As a zealous chamber musician, Helena has curated an interest in significant and unusual chamber works, performing Bartók’s Contrasts, Messaien’s Quartet for the End of Time, Ewazen’s Trio for Trumpet, Violin, and Piano, and Stravinsky’s Dumbarton Oaks Concerto in recent years. In 2020, she rehearsed and conducted the Baylor chamber orchestra, presenting Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 2. Helena enthusiastically uses her music to benefit her community and educate young musicians. She has worked for and performed at homeless shelters, churches, elementary schools, and food banks across the country. Mrs. Bandy is a singer, songwriter, and violinist for the band Days and Nights. In 2021, Days and Nights released their album Breathe, Speak, Sing, Groove on Apple Music and Spotify. Mrs. Bandy is a talented improviser and regularly collaborates and performs with jazz musicians in the Waco area. She teaches at Live Oak Classical School and has her own private studio, welcoming students of any level or age.
