Sue Jacobson

Dr. Sue Jacobson currently serves as Concertmaster of the Waco Symphony Orchestra. As a busy freelance musician, Dr. Jacobson plays regularly as a substitute with the Ft. Worth Symphony Orchestra, having held a full-time position for the 2018-2019 season. She also serves as Concertmaster of the Temple Symphony Orchestra, as well as 1st Violinist of the Temple Symphony String Quartet. Dr. Jacobson has taught privately to students of all ages for more than thirty years, most recently with the Central Texas String Academy. Prior to moving to Texas, she was Assistant Professor of Violin at Eastern Kentucky University. Dr. Jacobson has served as Assistant Concertmaster of the ProMusica Chamber Orchestra in Columbus, Ohio, as well as a regular substitute with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra. She was Principal Second violin with the Toledo Symphony Orchestra prior to pursuing post-graduate work in Columbus. She has enjoyed many summers as a member of the Des Moines Metro Opera, Colorado Music Festival, and Lancaster Festival Orchestras. She has a Bachelor of Music from the University of Michigan, and both the Master of Arts and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from The Ohio State University. Her husband, Dr. Michael Jacobson, is Professor of Saxophone and Associate Dean of the Baylor University School of Music. Their daughter, Abby, is a junior at Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film and Media Arts in Orange, California.
