Holly Burton

Holly Burton has been a cellist with the Waco Symphony since 2013. She grew up in Lorain, Ohio, where she was principal cello of the Northern Ohio Youth Orchestra and an Ohio All State cellist. She holds degrees in both Cello Performance and Music Education from Hardin Simmons University and has studied cello performance at the University of Southern California with Gabor Rejto.

Mrs. Burton is an active music educator and freelance cellist. She is in her twentieth year of public school teaching and has held positions with Abilene, Northwest, and Arlington ISDs. She has been a conductor at the University of Texas at Arlington’s Summer Strings Camp, Northwest Summer Strings Workshop and The Fort Worth Youth Orchestra. She is currently an Assistant Director of Orchestras at Martin High School in Arlington, Texas.

Mrs. Burton has performed as principal cellist with the Abilene Philharmonic, USC Baroque Music Ensemble, soloed with the San Angelo Symphony, and performed with the UTA Faculty and Friends Chamber Orchestra.

Mrs. Burton is an active member of TMEA, TODA, and is an AWARE Foundation Finalist for Excellence in Classroom Instruction.

Mrs. Burton also enjoys golf, road biking, running, quilting and spending time with her family.
