Dr. Kim Rooney Hagelstein

Dr. Kim Rooney Hagelstein currently serves on the applied faculties of Tarleton State University and McLennan Community College. In addition to teaching, Dr. Hagelstein performs regularly as Principal Horn of the Temple Symphony Orchestra and Second Horn of the Waco Symphony Orchestra. In previous years, Dr. Hagelstein has toured both domestically and abroad with groups including Eurobrass, the Carl Rosa Opera Company, and the New Sigmund Romberg Orchestra.

Dr. Hagelstein can be heard on recordings by the Lone Star Wind Orchestra, Eurobrass, and the Cincinnati Pops. As a soloist, Dr. Hagelstein has performed with the Lone Star Wind Orchestra, the Tarleton State University Wind Ensemble, the McLennan Community College Wind Ensemble, the University of Missouri University Philharmonic, and the Liberty Symphony Orchestra. She presents and performs regularly as a guest at other universities as well as at regional and international horn workshops.

Dr. Hagelstein has a B.M. from the University of Missouri - Columbia and M.M. and D.M.A. degrees from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Her primary teachers include Randy Gardner, Marcia Spence, and Shelley Peters.

When not playing or teaching horn, Dr. Hagelstein loves having fun with her two kids, traveling, and undertaking adventurous baking projects.
