Jennifer Martin

Jennifer Martin has performed in the Waco Symphony Viola Section since 2001. She serves as the Head Orchestra Director at Boles Junior High and Mary Moore Elementary in Arlington, Texas. She began her musical studies playing viola in the 5th grade. She was a three-year Texas All State Orchestra member and was selected to perform at the XXV International Viola Congress. Mrs. Martin then continued her orchestral studies at Baylor University where she studied with Dr. Kathy Steely and Stephen Heyde. While at Baylor, she served as principal viola and was a featured soloist in the nationally broadcast PBS special Christmas at Baylor. She graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2003.

Orchestras under Mrs. Martin’s direction have received consistent UIL Sweepstakes Awards and Best in Class awards at festivals across the Dallas-Fort Worth area. They have also ranked among the top ten orchestras in the state in the TMEA State Honor Orchestra contest. She is in frequent demand as a clinician and judge for orchestras around the state.

During the summer, she serves on the faculties of the University of Texas at Arlington’s Summer Strings Camp and the Baylor University High School Orchestra Camp.
