From Schindler’s List to Star Wars, the Waco Symphony Orchestra celebrates the orchestral scores that have left indelible impressions on generations of movie goers.

Sean Astin and Gary Cogill

Emmy Award-winning journalist, movie producer, and renowned film critic Gary Cogill brings decades of movie industry experience to the stage as the evening’s host, sharing insights and stories about the films connected to the music selections.

Cogill will interview multiple award-winning actor Sean Astin, known for portraying the title character in Rudy and for iconic roles in The Goonies, Stranger Things, and The Lord of the Rings trilogy. His career has spanned more than four decades and includes 150 acting credits.

The Waco Symphony will perform selections from The Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Goonies, Rudy, Schindler’s List, Titanic, The Mission, 49th Parallel, and Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves.

DRESS FOR THE MOVIES

You can either dress formally as if attending a Hollywood premiere and take your picture on our red carpet, or dress as your favorite movie character, be it a goonie, a hobbit, or a character from Star Wars.

Or just relax and dress for an evening at the movies (sorry, no popcorn in the theater) and let the music transport you to the movie screen in your mind.

Hop on the Bus

Before each Season Concert, the bus departs promptly at 7:00 p.m. from the Gold’s Gym parking lot on Waco Drive next to El Conquistador Restaurant. To reserve your place on the bus, call the Waco Symphony office at 754-0851.

This concert will be held at Waco Hall on the Baylor University campus.

Construction on I-35 has rerouted traffic through Waco and may cause delays. Please allow yourself extra time to get to Waco Hall.
