Majesty & Mystery

Brahms Violin Concerto featuring William Hagen

Thursday, March 18, 2027
7:30 p.m. // Waco Hall

Internationally acclaimed violinist William Hagen joins the Waco Symphony for the Brahms Violin Concerto, one of the most cherished and technically demanding works in the violin repertoire. Written for Joseph Joachim, a lifelong friend of Brahms, the concerto is a deeply personal tribute to friendship and artistic partnership.

Praised as a “brilliant virtuoso” and celebrated for performances that “float delicately above the orchestra,” Will Hagen has appeared with many of the world’s leading orchestras and performs on the 1732 “Arkwright Lady Rebecca Sylvan” Stradivarius violin.

The evening opens with Stacy Garrop’s electrifying Pandora Undone from Mythology Symphony and concludes with one of Maestro Loh’s favorite works, Elgar’s Enigma Variations, a beloved collection of musical portraits filled with mystery, humor, sincerity, and the spirit of friendship.
