The 2026–2027 Sounds of Joy season is officially underway, and what a way to begin.

On September 24, Waco Hall came alive for Impressions of Romanticism, an evening filled with sweeping melodies, powerful moments, and the unmistakable energy of experiencing live music together.

Music Director Lawrence Loh and the Waco Symphony opened the program with Debussy’s dreamlike Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun. Acclaimed pianist Orion Weiss then joined the orchestra for Grieg’s Piano Concerto, bringing both power and sensitivity to one of the evening’s most anticipated works. After intermission, Rachmaninoff’s expressive Symphony No. 3 brought opening night to a memorable close.

Waco tenor Glenn Beals also helped us begin the new season with a performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

Most importantly, thank you to everyone who joined us at Waco Hall. The energy you bring into the concert hall is part of what makes these performances so special, and we were grateful to share the first night of Sounds of Joy with you.
