An Evening of American Mastery

October 28, 2025

Step into a night where music carries the weight of history, joy, and the human spirit. On Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 7:30 p.m., Waco Hall will come alive with the sounds of two giants who defined American music: Leonard Bernstein and Aaron Copland.

From Bernstein to Copland is more than a concert—it’s a journey through the heartbeat of 20th-century America. Feel the infectious energy of Bernstein’s Three Dance Episodes from On the Town, where every note dances with exuberance, capturing the hustle and hope of urban life. Let the sweeping, lyrical beauty of Copland’s Appalachian Spring wrap around you like a sunlit morning in the American heartland, evoking nostalgia, innocence, and the promise of new beginnings.

Adding a touch of brilliance, the Waco Symphony welcomes Emily Levin, principal harp of the Dallas Symphony, to perform Ginastera’s vibrant Harp Concerto. Her performance promises to shimmer with color, skill, and emotion, transforming the concerto into an intimate conversation between instrument and soul.

Maestro Lawrence Loh will open the second half with Elegy XXII by Polina Nazaykinskaya—a stirring new work that confronts loss, conflict, and the universal yearning for peace. Here, music becomes more than sound; it becomes empathy, reflection, and hope.

This is a night where every crescendo tells a story, every pause holds meaning, and every note reminds us why music touches the soul like nothing else can.
