The 2026–2027 season opens with one of today’s most sought-after pianists who brings both passion and precision to every performance.

Orion Weiss, described as a “brilliant pianist” (The New York Times) with a “head-spinning range of colors” (Chicago Tribune), has performed with leading orchestras across the country and dazzled audiences around the world.

Weiss will join the orchestra to perform Grieg’s Piano Concerto, a beloved work known for its sweeping melodies and powerful emotions.

Weiss studied at The Juilliard School with Emanuel Ax and has received numerous awards, including an Avery Fisher Career Grant. With less than 24 hours notice, Weiss stepped in to replace André Watts for a performance with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and was immediately invited to return later that same year.

Known for his affinity for chamber music and collaboration, Weiss performs regularly with Augustin Hadelich, as well as fellow violinists William Hagen and James Ehnes; pianists Michael Brown and Shai Wosner; and the Ariel, Parker, and Pacifica Quartets. His artistry, curiosity, and ability to bring new depth to familiar works have made him a favorite among audiences and musicians alike.
